I'm an American illustrator and educator who's been a dedicated artist since I could hold a crayon. My parents figured out early on that as long as I had a pencil and some paper, I was happy anywhere. That's still true today, except now I take myself on adventures around the world, never leaving the house without a sketchbook and a few pens tucked in my bag.

I'll happily admit to being a travel junkie. Exploring the world is my greatest source of inspiration, and long flights and train rides are often where my best ideas take shape. I journal my journeys and find inspiration in the everyday — the people and animals I meet, the food I eat, the color palettes of cities, the patterns tucked into nature.

As a kid, I dreamed of animating for Disney/Pixar, constantly dreaming up my own characters and stories. I eventually realized a career behind a screen wasn't for me, so I studied fashion design in college before moving into art education, where I've spent over 10 years teaching students of all ages.

 

Now, I'm excited to follow my passion back to drawing and storytelling of my own. After years of working with kids, I have a good sense of what catches their eye and what they love — which comes in handy when creating for kid-lit!
